34-year-old man found dead near church after police receive report of body on property, Arkansas State Police say cause and manner of death remain unknown

Arkansas – The Arkansas State Police are investigating the death of a 34-year-old Salem man after his body was discovered Tuesday afternoon near a church in Hoxie.

According to state police, the investigation began at the request of the Hoxie Police Department.

Authorities said officers received a report at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 11 of a body found on property adjacent to a parking lot at People’s Faith Tabernacle Church on Sullens Road.

The victim was identified as James Frey, 34, of Salem.

Investigators said the body will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where an examination will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation.

Officials have not released any additional information, and the investigation remains ongoing.
