Fort Smith, Ark. – A man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that took place Sunday evening inside the Hope Campus facility in Fort Smith, Arkansas, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.
Officers responded to a call around 6:30 p.m. on May 25 at 301 South E Street, where they found a person suffering from injuries sustained during the incident.
After interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence at the scene, investigators arrested 32-year-old Wesley Underwood on one count of first-degree battery.
Underwood was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center on a $150,000 bond. Authorities confirmed that the victim’s injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
Police commended several individuals at the facility who quickly intervened during the attack. According to officials, their actions helped stop the assault from escalating and likely prevented further injury.
The motive behind the incident has not yet been disclosed, and no additional arrests have been reported. The investigation is ongoing.
