Arkansas – A 19-year-old man was killed late Saturday night following a high-speed police chase that ended in a crash near the Morgan/Maumelle exit on Interstate 40.
According to Arkansas State Police (ASP), the North Little Rock Police Department requested assistance shortly before 11 p.m. on March 29, 2025, as officers pursued a vehicle traveling without headlights at speeds exceeding 120 mph.
ASP troopers joined the pursuit near the 145-mile marker, where the suspect vehicle accelerated to 130 mph before exiting onto Highway 365.
The driver, later identified as John Bruce Martinez, lost control of the vehicle after taking Exit 142. The car left the roadway and crashed into multiple trees. Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three passengers, all 17-year-olds from Mabelvale, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Children’s Hospital for treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and crash.
